The link to the VLS News and Events page will continue to be updated as further announcements come out regarding Campus closure, future events, etc. Prior to the current COVID response, we at the online program have been asking to get all of our online students included in the Campus Wide emails - I apologize that we have not done that yet. All of you should be getting notices when I make announcements here: if not you will need to SUBSCRIBE to this page. If you're having difficulties with that, please let me know, and I will try to help walk you through the process!
The newest release, that I'm afraid some of you may not have received, is that the Campus will be closed for the remainder of the semester, with updates to come about Commencement and further events. We recognize the upheaval this may have on some of your plans, and I apologize that I cannot get you the news any faster. Thank you, especially, to those of you who have reached out, are being patient, and unbelievably understanding in this time.
You should have seen communication from Beth McCormack, the Vice Dean for Students yesterday. If you have not, it should be in your emails, and here is a link to the announcement.
The Online staff wants to reassure you that we will still be available, conducting business as usual: physical campus closings will not affect your online platform. Myself, Melody, our colleagues in the Registrar's Office, the Career Services Department: we will all be continuing to work, but from home in most cases. Please know that you should not have any issues contacting us - email will be the most appropriate avenue of communication, but should you need to get in touch with us, my VLS provided cell phone is (802) 831-7718. I will continue to be available on that line during normal business hours, however, if you'd like to use my appointment scheduling tool, Calendly, you can find my calendar here.
We do hope that all of our students are taking necessary precautions, possibly including social distancing, and as you are all accessing your courses now, that should not impact your participation. However, should you become ill, we encourage you to be in contact with your professor and myself as early as possible. We will work to identify options that have the least impact on you and your program.
As anything changes, we will work to keep you informed as early as possible. And on that front, I'd like to point out to all of you that we do have a notification system here at VLS - typically helpful for on-campus students as it typically shares snow day information - but even for students in Florida, Nebraska, or Arizona, knowing when our campus offices are closed could be very helpful. Our VLS Alerts (Regroup) can be sent to texts, emails, etc: https://vermontlaw.regroup.com
